Classical Guitar Canada is Bradford Werner’s blog that explores the world of classical guitar with a focus on Canadian artists and activities. The aim is to unite and explore Canada’s classical guitar scene and its artists in a positive and supportive way. The articles look at activity within Canada as well as lessons and information about classical guitar in general.
Editor, owner, and over 400 articles:
Bradford Werner (Guitarist, Victoria, BC)
In a nut shell: I’m a classical guitarist living in Victoria, BC, Canada. I teach at the Victoria Conservatory of Music as well as work as a freelance musician. I’m also studying history at the University of Victoria. You can visit my website and see some media or my students, or visit the ensembles I play in such as the Victoria Guitar Trio.

History of Classical Guitar Canada:
A couple of years back I started blogging on the Victoria community site Guitar Victoria which is a blog for concert promotion in Victoria BC. However, since the site was limited to Victoria activity I wanted a blog that would focus on a larger community stretching from coast to coast. I also wanted to personalize the blog by writing other content that I found interesting and about my own experiences as a classical guitarist. Therefore, I started Classical Guitar Canada with the moto: Classical Guitar Canada is Bradford Werner’s guitar blog that explores the world of classical guitar with a focus on Canadian artists and activities.
Since then I’ve been reviewing recordings, promoting Canadian content (concerts, festivals, and more), and sharing all the info I get from the networks I’ve built up over the past years. I really try to promote the official guitar societies and focus on the who’s who in the Canadian scene. Sometimes I miss a few things because I’m busy teaching 25 students, performing, and studying history at the University of Victoria…you can help me out by sending me info and materials that I can post on your behalf…
New for September 2011 is the addition of official contributors to the site. These contributors have been invited to write posts on a more regular basis and will be adding to the positive vibe and growing narrative to the site.
The future of Classical Guitar Canada
Who know what the future holds! I’d like to see an associated non-profit society formed maybe called ‘The Canadian Classical Guitar Society’ as well as an annual print magazine of the best stories and interviews. We shall see! At this time I, Bradford Werner, will be retaining 100% control over the site to ensure it’s continued success but will be considering future partnerships. Once I’m finished with my History studies at the University of Victoria I will have much more time to dedicate to the site. However, for now, I want to keep building the fan base and building an online infrastructure and social network to connect Canadian guitarists.
No more ads!
Hey, noticed that there are no longer any google ads on the site? I took them off because I thought it would give the site a better vibe. However, it takes hours and hours of work to run this site so a donation would be much appreciated: READER SUPPORTED
